What changed
The Home Office has updated its lists of approved centres for secure English language tests (SELTs). A SELT is an English test that some people pass for a visa or citizenship application. There is one list for centres in the UK and one for centres outside the UK. The lists are spreadsheets that Norvo has not read, so this update cannot say which centres were added or removed.
Who it affects
People who need to pass a SELT for a visa, settlement or citizenship application. The guidance lists routes that need a test. These include Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker, Student, partner, parent, settlement and citizenship. For results to be accepted, the test must have been sat at an approved test location.
When it starts
The source does not give a date when the change takes effect. The guidance page was updated on 26 October 2026.
What it does not change
The change note only mentions the test centre lists. The page names these approved test providers in the UK: Trinity College London, IELTS SELT Consortium, LANGUAGECERT and Pearson. Outside the UK, it names PSI Services (UK) Ltd, IELTS SELT Consortium, LANGUAGECERT and Pearson. The page also says test results are valid for 2 years from the date the test is awarded.
